Typical Marston's retail park pub and diner. Seen one, seen them all. Two hand pumps with Pedigree turned around and Wainwright Gold in very good condition (NBSS 3.5, £5.10/pint). The young man who served me was a good greeter, and engaged me in conversation about lower league football - it's Hallam's first game in the Northern Premier League, at Garforth Town - so well done him!

One of those ghastly family dining places although not as bad as some, I never know if they’re a pub, pub themed restaurant or just somewhere to avoid. Newly built in mostly brick shithouse style with gold lettering, it could be anywhere but at least it’s not pretending to be a “farm”, different pub company perhaps. Inside there’s the usual overwhelming stench of vinegar and a little cooking fat. It’s roughly L shaped with a counter in the corner of the L, usual national kegs plus 2 x 4 lots of Marstons casks, just Wainwright and Pedigree doubled up but one pull had a clip from the days when Pedigree was a beer to be reckoned with. Otherwise standard for the type, beer quality middling, service was semi-detached but fine.
