A modern bar with decking in front and a bar counter made of rather snazzy building blocks. Four hand pumps but just two real ales (True North Polaris and Daleside Blonde) on at the time of my visit - I think they just don't sell enough of it to justify having more. Numerous keg options for Meanwood's hipsters to get their teeth into, and I went for Brass Castle Misfit; about an hour later I had the same beer in its real ale format at Arcadia in Headingley so was able to compare the two versions. Interestingly, while I had found the keg version merely bland and tasteless, so just tolerable, when I drank the cask beer I was able to really taste the hops, which were mosaic and columbus, so I actively disliked it. The guys here were very friendly and we chatted about the beer scene and the Leeds Rhinos. I'll probably call in again during the rugby league season.

Odd shaped shop convertion into microbar. 4 pulls, 8 keg lines, two casks on neither of which I fancied, so an Atom Dark Matter on keg it was and very nice too. Bit of an odd shape - sort of a J with the counter in the long arm and some seating hidden away round a couple of corners. Lots of modern bench seating although the grey walls, Edison bulbs, cable tray and garden walls are still there. I like the Edinburgh style minimalism tables attached to some seating. B & W photos chart the renovation of the building. There's a lounge and the toilets downstairs.
