Located on one of the railway station platforms, the Waiting Room is a nice-looking space with a wooden floor and traditional curved serving counter up the right with a tiled back bar. Unfortunately, the three hand pumps were unused, so the draught options were three craft keg beers alongside Aspell’s cider, the latter being £3 for a half. There were a couple of other customers, but no way near enough when compared to the amount of people stood on the platform. The service was polite and it was much better in here than standing on a cold platform, but I wouldn’t purposely venture from outside the station again to revisit.

Small but perfectly formed micropub with two hand pumps. Beers are from local breweries, Firebrick and Wylam. I went for the 4% Gold from Wylam and this was in very good condition (NBSS 4, £4.70). A slightly annoying background noise of Indie pop but it was only background, so I concentrated on my tinnitus instead.
