Smart wine and cheese bar on the trendy York Road, just off King's Heath High Street. I walked in to find 3 customers. There was a bloke on his own and a woman with her young daughter. As the woman quickly moved behind the counter, I assumed she would serve me, but she is obviously just a regular who knew where the litter bin was!
Looking around at the various cheeses and wines, I wondered if I was in the wrong place. However, the lack of staff allowed me to explore and discover the solitary craft beer offering behind the bar. This was The Kernel Pale Ale Chinook.
Eventually the barman strolled through the front door and I settled down in the window watching the world go by. I wouldn't say that this is a destination venue, unless you enjoy drinking wine or eating cheese. But it can easily be added to a tour of pubs in Kings Heath and of York Road in particular.
