The interior in here was quite dingy and poorly lit, all of the furniture looked as though it had come from a second hand shop, cheap and cheerful. The young proprietor was chatty and friendly and very laidback. He had three ales on, served from the rear cold room which were denoted by the four handpumps on the bar. Nottingham Brewery Robin Hood Ale and Bullion, Marlpool Blind Boris and one from Four Candles Brewery Citra Pale. The young chap also explained that he drove all the way down to Broadstairs in Kent to the Four Candles Brewery, to purchase a cask, left the beer in the back of the car in the blistering heat and went for a wander around the town and then drove the back that night. No wonder my pint was as dead as a door nail. He was decent though and only charged half price for a pint and a half, which we didn't finish. The next instalment was when he brought out a plastic bowl, a bag of flour, water and yeast and proceeded to mix bread by hand in the bowl. No worries there if he had to pull a pint, as we didn't see any other customers on first opening Friday afternoon. The guy also explained that he hadn't eaten all day and that he'd also give some to his customers, wherever they were. I hope the guy makes a success of it, but I think we may have called a little too prematurely.

Small micro pub outside the town centre and not to far away from the station with very limited opening times.
Mon-wed closed 6-9 Thursday 3-10 Friday 12-10 Saturday 3-10 Sunday.
