Iron Pier Brewery is a brewery and tap on May Avenue Industrial Estate that is a brisk walk southeast of Gravesend town, but there are a few pubs to stop at on the way. A storm was looming during a recent Wednesday early evening visit so the marquee tent covering picnic tables out front was getting a battering from the wind. Inside in the warm there are three rows of long tables to the right of the entrance, two standard and one high, and the shiny steel brewery equipment is found across the rear. The serving counter is to the left where I imagine Iron Pier’s full range is available. The six cask options were Bitter, Wealdway IPA, Dark Mild, Mosaic, Killick’s Mill and Perry St Pale. There are also twenty taps across the back bar, eleven of which were the brewery’s own products. I’d not heard of any of the other nine, well apart from the Snail’s Bank Raspberry Ripple cider, and the three taps on the far right that were for wine. I was served a decent pint of Mild by a very friendly barmaid, but the posh Kent crisps were crap teeth breakers. These industrial estate brewery’s are far from cosy, but this one is done well, and I’d certainly return to try more of their beers.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Iron Pier Taproom
Usual sort of industrial-estate unit (or two), albeit slightly masked by an outdoor seating marquee at the front, but the taproom inside seems more homely than most (even though it's right beside the brewing vessels and has canteen-style tables). Wealdway (£4.20) was one of the four available cask beers, with 13 craft beers - including a splendid Speyside BA Imperial Stout (£3.00, third) - and three ciders also available from the bar-back keg taps. With a friendly welcome and a good atmosphere, I really enjoyed my brief stop here.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Iron Pier
We managed to get here five minutes before closing on our Sunday afternoon visit. I explained to the young couple behind the bar, that we would just have a quick drink and let them finish up. This was indeed the opposite, where we were allowed to get a couple of pints and a small tour of the brewery equipment. I went for the Pillar Street Pale, which slipped down very easily and their bitter. The bitter was a typical style bitter, packed with hops from Kent, this was truly an excellent beer. I also managed to get a taster of their porter. The staff were all friendly and chatty and were all passionate about their craft.
