A 2017 opener BCA pub which was a relaxing oasis after the madness at the Horn & Trumpet. Comfy and relaxed interior, I’ll quote directly from WhatPub “the 250 year old building conveys a sense of history and atmosphere as one area leads into another into the depths of the pub where the old bank vault door is still to be seen on display”. You know what you’re going to get from the chain cask-wise with the usual BCA plus guests fayre, I plumped for the Hogs Back Fairytale of New Pork which was very nice (NBSS 3.5). How Bewdley keeps up the quality across so many pubs should be the subject of an academic paper.

My last pub in Bewdley before catching the bus back to Ironbridge where I was staying. This is a Black Country Ales pub, but probably the roughest of that brewery's pubs I've been in. My notes made at the time said "down-market", and I also noticed a smell of mould as I entered, though whether this was the customers or the building I couldn't say. The bar is along the left hand side, very long and festooned with more hand pumps than I could count (or photograph). There were two ciders, a porter from Newby Wyke, five BCA beers, Wainwright and one or to others. I went for BCA Pig on the Wall and then wished I hadn't, though there was nothing wrong with it - just that I'd been drinking pale beers all day and this mild was a bit of a shock to the taste buds. Not as shocking as the background music was to my ears and sensibility though, and it sent me rushing in search of the beer garden, which is out the side door and up some steps to the roof. Luckily they haven't put any loudspeakers out here (yet).

Another good traditional Black Country Ales pub, with 12 ales and three ciders to choose from on our Friday lunchtime visit. We went for the Hop Shed Perkin and Derby Brewing Co Cheers Ma'am. I also went for the BFG, which is a good Black Country Ales beer and always hits the spot. The staff in here were also very friendly and chatty.
