Having not been here for over 6 years, I'd forgotten how good this place was. An old DIY shop, it has a fairly distressed interior inside, feeling more like a warehouse with tall brick walls all around. As stated in the previous review, the brewing equipment can be seen above the bar. A corridor to the left of the bar itself takes you to a unisex and a disabled toilet, as well as a further room to the rear which can be used for functions.
5 handpulls can be found on the bar. Handyman Beers are numbered. I opted for the Porter, which was 06. They also had a second beer, which I could tell by the number (73 from memory) was a brand new brew. This was called Fruity. Guests were Neptune Waterfont Bitter & Fell Ghyl with the fifth handpull stocking Snail's Bank Mulled Cider. Keg beers included SALT Huckaback & Jute, Black Lodge Dead End Dreams, The Kernel Biere Du Saison, Green Arches Sunlight, Fell Chocolate Stout & Hanydman IPA.
I orderd the Porter, but just as I did so, another guy was bringing his pint back to the bar, stating that it was too bitter and wasn't right. They threw it away and gave him a Guinness. In actually fact, I thought it was a lovely beer and this was proved by the same guy returning a buying another pint of it for his mate. A bit of a cheek I thought ordering another pint of one you've just asked to be thrown away!
A decent soundtrack was playing in here and I could quite happily have stayed for more had I not been driving and had I not had another pub to re-visit. A range of Tayto crisps are available to purchase and an Irish theme continued with some shamrock buntings in place ready for St Patrick's Day. A selection of gins were promoted on the bar and a wifi password is also available.
I scored this place a 7/10 on another site the last time I was here. If anything, it has improved since then. So, it is an 8/10 for me.

Local bar ran by Handyman’s brewery. The brewing operation can be seen directly above the bar. it’s all bare brick walls, bare floorboards and very utilitarian furnishings. 4 real ales plus a cider - only 2 of their own beers on cask (Pale & Porter) plus Beartown and Salopian guests. I would use it if I lived around here but it’s too suburban to make a special journey out.

Originally back in the day this was a builders merchants. The interior is quite spacious with a high open roof space and the building extending quite a way towards the rear. Once though the main door you enter a lobby area, with sacks of malted barley stacked up along the wall.
The main front drinking area consisted of a the bar area facing you with white tiles along the bar front and a mezzanine floor above displaying their brewery kit. The floors were boarded, seating was long tables with old school stools, along with high tables and stools along the front window. Four handpumps serving Brass Castle Misfit and Three Handyman beers Amber, Porter and Pale. I went for the Pale which was in great shape, but the hop flavouring wasn't really to my palette, so didn't warrant another pint.
