Alfie’s is a large open plan high ceilinged bar with high tables to the left of the entrance and a raised seating area up the left with banquettes and tables. Bucket seats and tables run up the right to the serving counter midway along the right-hand wall. Premium keg and Carling were available and the two hand pumps were unused. In fact one of them had a reversed ‘coming soon’ sign which is a first for me. Food is available, there’s an open kitchen at the rear. My recent visit was midweek early evening when ten or so locals were sat in the bucket seats around the bar area. The televisions throughout were airing Olympics on BBC as well as Sky Sports News and Racing TV. These were all muted whilst some background music played. I didn’t see anything here that would lure me back.
