Classed as a micropub, but has more of a continental cafe bar feel about it. I'd booked a table, which as it turned out was not necessary on our Saturday lunchtime visit. Although tables are quite cramped and not particularly good for social distancing.

The 6 handpulls were occupied by Abbeydale Explorer's Sweets from Cobbled Streets, Stancill Black & Barnsley Bitter & White Rose Best Bitter, Original Blonde & Stairlift to Heaven.

Snacks were available. We indulged in sausage rolls. Prices were good, but I'm not sure if the CAMRA discount is still available. It certainly wasn't offered to us. Best of the 3 pubs sampled in Hoyland Common.

A micropub in a building that formerly contained a sort of shop-cum-cafe, as far as I could make out. An original wooden chimney piece and the door in the far left corner are fittings that remain from that existence, and very nice they look too. But back to business, and the bar counter is also a notable feature upon entry, with its six hand pumps (see photo). I'm afraid my eye was caught by the Acorn Gorlovka pump clip and I have no recollection of the other beers on offer. There were lagers and other keg offerings, but no real cider. The woman who served us was very friendly and welcoming, and made a point of putting a phone conversation on hold to say farewell to us, which was nice. This one might be worth another visit; if I lived here I would be a regular.
