Blue Scrumpy left this review about Sanctuary

The Sanctuary was our final stop of 13 on a Potteries crawl. It is quite a large, single room micropub that is brightly lit inside and was doing good business on a Friday evening.

The bar is on the right-hand side as you enter. I only noted a couple of cask ales - Riverhead Spring Pale & Rudgate Battleaxe. There were 2 spare handpulls. The cider was Lilley's Strawberry, whilst keg beers were Tartarus Ratatoskr, Verdant There Is Only Now & Wye Valley Nightjar. Draft ciders were Aspall's, Hawkstone Hedgerow & Lilley's Mango.

My memories of this pub are not the best, given it was the last of a lengthy crawl, but I'd say it's worth another try at some point in time.

Strongers . left this review about Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is a single room pub with seating to the left and a bar counter to the right where two of the four hand pumps were in operation drawing Brain’s Rev James and Salopian’s Lemon Dream, the latter being a bit wishy washy. I spotted a piano, and on the wall facing the entrance is an angry donkey’s head (not real). I wouldn’t go out of my way to revisit.

A homely sort of place and glad to say the place was nice and warm on our recent Thursday afternoon visit, as it was a particularly cold day. The pub wasn't that busy on our visit around 4pm, but on our way back from the Greyhound around 5 all the seating space was taken up as we passed the door. Five handpumps with three in use on our visit, serving Northern Powerhouse Gold, Little Gritters Python and Little Critters Malty Python. We went for the Powerhouse Gold, which was in good condition and cost £3.10 a pint. They also had a choice of three ciders and a couple of craft lagers.
