Narrow long bar with bar to the right. Regrettably only the much derided Doombar on hand pump which I of course ignored. Various craft ales on offer but they were all too cold for my taste. A place for the younger generation.

One of three new bar all within a stone’s throw of each other on Mapperly top to have opened within the past year. The old flower shop is the first you arrive at when arriving from the north side. Upon entering the long bar runs down the right hand side with lots of tables and chairs spread around. As you would expect the décor Is very modern with hard wood and lots of metal and exposed brick. Beyond the bar is another room that is partially sectioned off and looks exclusively for diners coming for a proposer sit down meal though many in the “bar” were enjoying food as well. There were three hand pulls on the bar but two were taken up by Doombar with the other having Navigations New Dawn pale ale. We went for the Navigation beer and although not a fan of their stuff this was ok (not amazing but satisfactory) but very good value for this sort of place at £2.80 a pint. This is defiantly not my sort of place but could serve its purpose on a weekend when wanting a more lively atmosphere as many younger people frequent and selling ale is a real bonus that not many places such as this do so it gets credit for that. Better than quite a lot of others like it.

The Old Flower Shop is a fairly new bar that is situated on a row of shops in the Mapperley shopping area.
Once inside there is a long narrow oblong shaped room which runs to the rear, the floor is bare boarded and the bar is situated on the mid right side, there is bench seating and normal tables and chairs to the front and tall tables and stools opposite the bar, there are more normal tables and chairs to the rear.
There were three real ales and one real cider on the bar,i had a drink of Oakham Citra which went down very well, the other beers were Navigation New Dawn Pale and Doom Bar.
There were three TVs showing sky sports and background music was playing, food was also being served.
For warmer weather there is a small covered outside seating area to the front.
I quite liked this place.
