A large, perhaps eighteenth Century, warehouse right on the shore facing the sea. Approached via a gangway over the shingle, this is primarily a seafood restaurant, but drinkers are welcome at the bar which faces you as you come in over the pebbles. Belonging to the group that also owns Whitstable Brewery, their beers-both cask and keg- are available on the bar. On our visit in early October I enjoyed Whitstable's East India Pale Ale, served from a cooled cask behind the bar.
I can't eat shellfish, but those who can, said the oysters were excellent:certainly my free-swimming fish was in top condition. Pleasantly busy then: I would suggest it gets hectic in the season.
