Converted from a village shop and post office in a traditional local style, this is a very good attempt at creating a pub that looks like it's been here forever. There's an area of bench tables under some trees on the edge of the car park, but once inside it is clear that most of the tables have been set up for dining. There's an area near the bar - labelled "bullshit corner" - which is evidently intended for drinkers, and an authentic looking collection of mostly ceramic mugs is suspended from the rafters. The two beers on the bar at the time of my visit were both from Wye Valley: Best Bitter and HPA. (The Camra website, updated a year later, says only one beer available.) My half of the HPA was in decent condition and priced at £4.60/pint.
