Jester’s Bar primarily advertises itself as a party venue that is available for hire. I’ve never really considered Eastbourne to be a party destination and stag/hen parties are seldom seen in the town centre. However, to my surprise when I visited on Saturday evening there was in fact a stag party in here along with three or four locals. The five members of the steaming drunk stag party hardly packed this place out, but at least there is a market. To be honest I’ve never noticed this place to be open so I was very surprised when I walked past.
At the front of this ‘party venue’ is a street level room with a table and a couple of chairs in it. To be honest I find this almost redundant area to be very uninviting. Up some steps is a split bar that houses three pool tables and five dartboards. Flat screen televisions are found throughout and Sky/BT Sports is shown. Standard keg is available from the bar and drink deals such as five Jägermeister for £10 are available.
This place is ideal for those that want to play pool/darts whilst watching football, but for those that like a bit of character in their drinking venue this is probably not going to be high up the list.
