As described by others, this micro is definitely one of the better bets this side of the Itchen, well worth the walk from the City centre. The pizzas were good value, but of course it’s the beer that really sets it apart. We were a bit concerned that it brands itself as a ‘craft ale bar’, but that does it a disservice as the real ale is very much present and well up to the mark. My Citra Romance from New Bristol Brewery, Chocolate Orange Porter from Dorking, Hindmarsh IPA and Dark and Perilous Nights stout from Crackerjack were all on offer, all good though it made for a heavy night. I’ll definitely be back.

Olaf's Tun
One of Soton CAMRA's micropub favourites. Shuddered slightly when I saw the word 'progressive' in the WhatPub description but inside is all perfectly neutral and no political omnicause being shoved into your face. Quite nicely done décor-wise and fairly cosy; padded benches and wood planking - so clearly an interior overhaul since the first review in 2017. Excellent pint as well given was the first out of the day’s treading, a Lakedown Sussex Pale (NBSS 4) from the six cask available alongside eight craftykegs. Started to fill-up fairly quickly and I was glad that I decided to get myself here first rather than last of the day. Whilst it’s a bit out of the way from the general crawl Soton area, I think it’s well-worth a bus out.

Olaf's Tun is a regular shop conversion in a shopping parade near the Itchen Bridge. Actual handpumps in this micropub (6 of them, 4 in action today) serving up quality ales from smaller breweries such as Siren and Duration, as well as a line of interesting craft keg from the 8 taps.
Going against the strictest micropub rules, hot food in the form of pizza is offered at times - check listings for details.
While the barmaid couldn't be faulted for helpfulness and friendly service, the locals were a taciturn bunch.
Southampton doesn't exactly shine when it comes to quality ale houses, but the Tun deserves a visit if you're in town.
