Called in here to meet up with some friends that were on a walking holiday in the area. A huge room with a couple of side rooms. A massive selection of beer, many of which were from Bowland themselves, sadly I find their beers a bit bland and samey, so I didn't have any. I did however try several of the guest ales during the two or so hours we were here and all were in decent nick. We also ate here and my steak pie, chips and mushy peas was good if a little overpriced. Plenty of interesting old machinery to have a look at in the other rooms. A bit of a mixed bag really, but I'd call in again.

Visited in February to find a rather impressive 40+ hand pulls surrounding a large island bar. Obviously some of these are duplicated but it's still an impressive line-up. A mix of their own beers and guests. I went for one of their own stouts on cask at £2.35 for a half.

The brewery is visible at the back. I spotted a wood burner (not in use at the time of my visit). Seating is a mix of high and low including bench seating. There is a separate Engine Room to the left if you don't fancy the big main hall.

A nice setup and I would be very happy to return.

A big barn of a place with a semi-rustic feel (you’ll be drinking alongside agricultural and industrial revolution era machinery, plus a glass fronted fermentation room) and it does feel a little contrived at points. A *lot* of cask spread all around the island bar though only one dark beer, I expected a little more variety; the ‘all year beer festival’ tag is not entirely accurate in that respect. Very well-drilled staff coping well with a close-to-capacity crowd on Friday afternoon. My pints of Bowland ales Boxer (NBSS 3.5) and Bumble (3) went down well enough, but the incessant noise and dim interior did make me feel a bit claustrophobic. No matter, the beer was good and the place busy which is 50% of the battle. For those who stay at the hotel, be aware that the room doors slam shut and the noise carries - so don’t expect a good night’s sleep on a Friday or Saturday night. 7.5
