The whole complex is extremely impressive and its success has rewarded Bowland’s ambition. The beer hall is effectively a permanent festival/exhibition and obviously lacks pub atmosphere. I do agree with Al Bundy about it being noisy and corporate but it’s enjoyable in its own way. 22 cask on today and the place absolutely thriving, clearly the place is pulling visitors to this sleepy market town so hats off to them.

42 yup 42 pulls on the central servery round three sides in sets of six. Located in a large stone built old mill building, the brewery is at the rear and visible through large windows. To the left of the large main room are two smaller rooms; the Engine Room with an horizontal mill engine and the Chimney Room with the base of a chimney. Eight Bowland beers with another four or so from Marble plus a selection from other breweries, one set of six pulls is devoted to cider. Seating at long tables with benches in the main room and tables and chairs in the two side rooms. Pretty impressive as brewery taps go.

At some point this was a working grain mill, as the remains of a large steam driven piston can be observed in the left hand side room. Bowland have planned out this large space very well as it has lots of different seating areas to give it that pub theme, unlike most breweries, who tend to leave the main drinking area with an industrial theme.
Other main features in here was the red telephone box, a glass fronted fermentation room, Yorkshire flagstone floor, reclaimed corrugated iron above the back bar, 1970s style lamps above the bar counter. The bar counter had a formica top with a stainless steel edge, the front was plain timber with a stainless steel footrest. The timber handle pumps were for the Bowland Beer and the Black pump handles were for their guest beers. They had 42 handpumps which is astounding, with a choice of 37 different beers. If you want to get a few tasters in, then they offer a paddle of three thirds for £3.40. If you're a Bowland beer fan, which I have been for some years now, even visiting their first brewery in Bashall Eaves, where it all began, then I highly recommend a visit here. They also have a restaurant, shop and hotel, where we stayed, all in the same vicinity.
