Bohemian beer cafe on 2 levels, gets past the possibility of being a bit up market and is a comfortable nice place with good beer

A modern beer bar with four cask available on my visit, unfortunately I went for the same beer as Nev in the review below, Ossett Jet Stout, which wasn't in good shape at all, however some of the keg lineup looked interesting particularly the Belgian stuff and looking around this was what quite a few of the customers were drinking.I didn't dislike the place and possibly just caught the cask beer at a poor moment, I would certainly give it another go.

Down an alley close to the Lacemarket tram stop ,this bar is housed in an old building with a bar dominated by Belgian beer fonts, four handpumps and an upstairs mezzanine level with more seating if the ground floor is full. It's modern and hip ,popular with the young and shares a courtyard with the Junkyard next door which is a sister operation with a large selection of indie kegs.
On my trip the Kilpin was offering ales of Pomona Island Tarquell,Black Iris Kilpin Pale and Ossett Jet Stout( out of condition,NBSS 2) with a clip reversed.I should have stuck with a Belgian beer from what looked like a good selection of their beers that you might find in the UK but would be a disappointment if you were in Bruges.
Not really enough to warrant a revisit for an ale fan, decent all the same.
