The newest edition to The Mad Dog Brewery Co stable.
I never visted this venue when it was The Fire Station, so I was pleased when I heard the building was being repurposed. However I wish I could write a more positive review of our experience of Mad Dog's opening day. I have to be honest, this really isn't my kind of pub. The venue is quite echoy, it is especially noticable in the main seating area, on the ground floor. The toilet facilaties are located at the top of a spiral staircase, I would advise caution to anyone with mobility issues. The main seating area comprises of a selection of unfinished wooden tables. The edges of which, are unplaned and could snag and tear your clothes if you're not careful.
My partner tried a few of the Craft beer options, which were quite reasonable, but on the cold side. I had a cider which was quite good. We found the staff friendly and helpful, which goes a long way. One thing we were grateful for, was the background music being at an acceptable volume.
The pub had plenty of customers, mostly of a younger generation who will probably lap this kind of establishment up. But I am in no hurry for a return visit.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Fire Station
Three ales on handpump West Berkshire Good Old Boy, Prescott Winter Ale and Purity Mad Goose. The main feature is original fire engine shed, which has been converted into the main bar area, along with the original bare brick walls and an added rustic looking timber boarded floor. The curved shaped timber bar counter also added interest, along with the high shelved back bar and the sliding brass and timber ladder. The staff were friendly and helpful. The Purity Mad Goose was in excellent condition.
