I saw this in the list of York pubs and thought “oh oh one of those wtf is this on here for” places and obviously not reviewed since being put on for photographic reasons, but there’s a sign outside saying “craft beer bar and grill” so my spirits were raised.

SUCKER!

Inside it’s a small and probably better than average, decor wise, hotel bar. It’s reached beyond the reception or from the second door past a Maitre D’ stand and I was met by a slightly miserable one of the breed. The beer choice was a disheartening selection of Heinekin, their latin lager Moretti (£3.35 a half) and a house badged keg best bitter, no doubt also from Heinekin’s mega keggery in Manchester. The can and bottle selection involved Tennents lager and other well known UK brands. Modern flooring, tiles and lots of glass walls form the decor. Piped music and a silent screen on news. There’s low seating in the bar area which is next to a dining area.

If you desire craft keg then the Brew York Beerhall isn’t far away, further along the street going out of the city are three decent cask pubs, so why upset yourself?
