Two floors and nicely done, quite upmarket and a stab at a Lowland style beer café – verging perhaps on the twee but plenty of character nonetheless. A scrum at the bar, four (I think) cask on, my White Rose Black Rose was fair (NBSS 3). I was tempted to stay for a second and had a look at the Euro wares in the fridge but unfortunately there was no pricing to be found. Not fancying being stung at the still-congested bar, I decided to head onwards. Little things…! 6.5

Second visit here - last time I described it as a beer cafe. The range of cakes and other light bits has completely gone, so they seem to be concentrating on the beer fully now.

Good choice of cask and keg. I went for a Kasteel Donker, served in cermonial chalice, that I had forgotten how sweet it is. Still, £5.50 on draft seemed a reasonable price.

We headed upstairs for more seating, including some very comfy looking armchairs.

I would probably live in here if I was local!

A terraced self-styled cafe-bar, with a predominantly glass frontage. It has two floors, is in grey wood and dark red, and stuffed with eclectic art and ephemera. I find this place friendly and has a broad clientele base - appealing to young and old. No TV or music, apart from the din that filters in from the Pig & Truffle over the road (sadly detracting from the experience). Four real ales, ever changing, with craft and quality continental lagers. Always worth a visit.
