I always enjoy a place that does its own beers. Visited back in March at around 2:15pm midweek, and found it surprisingly busy considering the 2pm opening time, unless the listed hours are wrong.

Eight cask with five of their own plus three guests, all clipped. Some keg taps too, though I didn't pay enough attention to be able to report on what they were offering. My half of one of their own bitters set me back £1.80 so pricing is reasonable.

Fairly open indoors, with the bar to the left and the on site brewery visible. There does seem to be some outdoor space on the opposite side of the road, unless that belongs to different premises, but people seemed to be moving between the two. There is a real fire, and dogs are welcome (but not on furniture).

I perhaps wasn't quite as enamoured as on previous visits, perhaps down to my ale choice on the day, but it's still somewhere I would seek out again when in the area.

I nearly skipped this one due to the massive crowds inside and the bouncers on the door but I relented at the last minute and slipped in for a half of Old Schnozzler before my train. Four of their own beers plus four guests including Titanic Plum Porter. A pleasant rustic open-plan interior and excellent service from the Antipodean barman, the beer tasted great too. But this was a bit rushed and late in the day to give a genuine assessment of the pub. I’m sure I will be back!

This brewhouse is housed in a former 18th Century malthouse, hence all the space. I noticed some brewing equipment on display in the main lounge and bar area. It seemed quite small for the amount of beer they are brewing at present. So they have expanded into the cellar and now have a 16 barrel set up, along with the 8 barrel brewhouse on the ground floor.
Luckily for us we managed to get a seat near the bar, which was good to peruse the beer boards. Five of their own beers plus three guest on our visit, plus another choice of eight keg, with a mix of lagers ciders included. The dearest pint of their own beer was £3.60 a pint, service at the bar was also fast and efficient. One not to be missed.
