UPDATE
Closed its doors to the public for the final time on 30th September 2017.

Much the same as previous, however, I garnered from this visit that this pub will close in September as the landlady, in charge for 54 years this year(!) will be closing. She owns the building so it will de-licence to become a private residence.

Old-style village pub in the sticks on the southern outskirts of Aylesbury with limited opening hours. Wet trade only, this is a one-roomer entered from the road with limited bench and table seating as you enter, an L-shaped bar up against the far right-hand wall with bar stools the only seating in the bar area itself. Numerous shields and trophies occupy shelves to the bar's right, there's half-height wood panelling running along all four walls and interior-wise, it's extremely clean and tidy throughout. No piped music, just the conversation of the three locals at the bar (who seemed a little shocked to see a stranger enter their midst) and no handpumps - rather a 22-pint Rebellion IPA beer box which served a so-so pint for £3.50 (bottles of Rebellion Red were also spotted on a shelf behind the bar for the same price). A rambling beer garden out back is also a decent sun trap on a clement day. A bit of a curio in this day and age and one wonders what would happen to it were it to fall out of the owners' hands as it occupies a decent plot. Still, probably worth dropping in, as there aren't many left like this these days...
