New build Marston's tied house with a substantial garden area overlooking a very busy road junction.The nearby Travelodge was part of this redevelopment.The pub itself is low rise,but there is a wait to be seated lecturn right in the doorway.I ignored it but when ordering at the L shaped bar noticed that the POS terminal was asking the young barmaid for a table number,she directed me to a small nearby table.Just drinking does occur near the bar,but the pub was very busy with diners who may crowd out non diners.It was too cold to sit in the garden,being used exclusively by smokers.
Corporate menu and a dried up carvery half way to the loos gave the impression of food service crap pub grub.There are some seating booths and the interior is split into sections but it's all too modern and garish.Families with noisy children didn't enhance the experience.
At the bar only two handpumps working on my trip serving Marston's Hobgoblin Gold and Pedigree (clear but nasty faint tang maybe pipe cleaner,NBSS 1.5).
A depressing ,modern pub,leave it to the old and obese who flock here for their grub.
