Run by Marstons, this is a very clean pub with standard chain pub type menu on offer.
It is very close to the M62 motorway, and was busy but with plenty of tables free on the weekday I visited.
With the addition of a carvery, and everything at 2 for £10, the prices for food are good but the drinks are expensive.
Not much atmosphere in the day time though but otherwise a really nice pub.

A new Marston's pub that has very little to write home about. Sure the build is new and the decor is light and pleasant but the substance of the pub is difficult to categorise. Big play area outside so attracts those with youngster's but the interior seats are from sublime to ridiculous. There are some comfortable booth type which get taken up very quickly and then some tables with unpadded wooden seats. Some of the floor is carpeted and some not.
Anyway beer on offer is limited to Marston's Pedigree and one other guest beer and the rest are in bottles. Soft drinks were extortionate at £4.70 for a pint of lemonade and a small glass of Pepsi but they are no alone in making a mint on this type of drink.
Menu for food is quite comprehensive although if you are looking for fish then you will be disappointed unless you wanted the battered variety. However, they have an all day long two for £10 and this includes the carvery. From the meals we saw delivered the quantities were plentiful and if the clear plates were any indication then the food was of good quality. We opted for two carvery's and initially were impressed by the quantity of meat given but the additionals were so disappointing. Only roast or skins available in potatoes (and the skins were almost raw), carrots, green beans and leeks in a creamy sauce were the vegetables and they went very cold very quickly. The biggest disappointment though was the gravy. Dishwater would have been a compliment - no substance to it at all.
Please appreciate that I can only comment on the meal that I got and it may well be we just arrived at the wrong time or on the wrong night but if you want a carvery then there are far better in the area and the management would be well advised to take a trip to The Stonemill on Winwick Road and see how it should be done. Put it like this if I had paid the full price of £7.95 each for these dishes then the disappointment may well have manifested into disenchantment. I guess two eating with a drink for less than £15 then you have to make allowances but I'm really struggling........
