Bonkers! The tiniest of micro pubs, which was recommended to me last night in Marlborough.

I checked opening hours and it closed at 4:30 - which provided some incentive not to linger on my 19 mile walk.

I made it with 30 minutes to spare. Its called the Shed for a reason. My shed is bigger. But whereas my shed is full of garden furniture and equipment I never use, this one has two maybe three tables, all packed solid with punters under a very low ceiling. To get in, I was forced to leave my 70l Osprey on the pavement outside. At this point in procedings, I didnt care if someone nicked it.

A couple of very well kept pints and inevitable conversation - I was a stranger in town, who smelled like he had walked 19 miles (my revenge, for no one offering me a seat) - and I cheered up for a pleasant 30 mins. I would have liked more. There is not a lot elese in Pewsey.

Previously a shop, this great micro has been adorned internally with softwood and chipboard to make it resemble a garden shed with a small bar at the end. The clientele during this latest visit were locals, a couple of commuters, a bunch of elderly computer geeks (sorry, ‘Specialist Information Services consultants’) and an Irish lady passing around dried seaweed for people to eat. Ales on were Plain Ales’s Inntrigue, Ashover Hawaiian Shirt, Ramsbury Ekuanot, Bristol Beer Factory’s Ply Causal and one from Dawkins. I had the Hawaiian Shirt and Inntrigue, both in excellent condition. Definitely worth a visit when passing or heading to/from the railway station, a good place to get shedded and convenient for a preprandial pint before enjoying curried ostrich in the Indian over the road.

Enjoyed our visit to this bar although with our coach of 20+ visiting early Saturday evening it was rather full, but that didn't stop the staff and locals in there making us feel welcome. There were beers from Ramsgate, XT and Great Heck, but we chose Shed Ales Pail Ale and Twisted WTF both of which were fine.
