The Castle Bar occupies one end of this late Victorian roadside hotel. There is a cramped car park, small garden and easy access from the main road. The bar is decorated with fake exposed beams and an open fireplace, and there is a pleasant atmosphere. There is free WiFi, the bar is dog friendly and the staff are amicable. It’s mainly used by locals, although there were one or two hotel guests in. The restaurant is immediately next to the bar, but it serves the same sub-average bar menu and can hardly be considered fine dining. Two ales on, both Marstons, both in reasonable condition. It’s fine to drop in if passing, and it’s as good a B&B as any in the area.
