On entering it seemed obvious to me where the Platform's custom had decamped to. A CAMRA award winner for the conversion of a 14th century Grade I listed building and it is genuinely impressive, modern but sympathetic to the building. My favourite part was the statement curved staircase in middle of the front drinking area. Otherwise it’s a rustic feel, with wood and naked stone walls/fittings – a German hausbrauerei style. A GBG-listed brewpub with six of theirs casked and eight craftykegged. The cask is wedded to the 'unfined is righteous' mantra so the Bitter was a bit naff if in good shape (NBSS 3.5), the stout a bit better if fag-end of barrel (NBSS 3). Lively atmosphere – you’ll want to do this one.

Great old stone building, lovely refurbishment with brewery and outside space next to the docks. Excellent stone interior and good beer

Always busy, this brewery tap is much as described below. It’s become trendy, and the lack of other decent pubs in the area has increased the numbers coming here. It was noisy, not particularly convivial, and crowded, so not as enjoyable as it should have been. The beer was good though, my favourite behind the Old Fashioned bitter which hit the spot nicely. I shall come back in the hope that things will be more enjoyable when it gets too cold for the tourists.
