No, I've no idea why it's called that either, nor what a Meat and Liquor Bar is. This place reincarnates often, it was a Slug and Lettuce for a while, then called The Glasshouse. The theme, such as it is, appears to be a sort of thirties colonial ex-pats club, though the 21st century mix of sofas and high tables complete with on-trend hamburger oriented menu muddies the water somewhat. The target market appears to be late 20s/30s who've grown out of the many studenty venues along here.
The are a couple of handpumps, dispensing St Austell beers, though I stuck to Wifebeater as I doubted they had seen any use that day on my late afternoon visit.
It's fine for what it is and a bit classier than some of the similar offerings locally
