This is clearly recognisable as a cinema not just from outside but also inside. As noted below the original cinema structure has largely been retained with the stage and screen area at the rear and the bar on the left. There are large windows behind the stage which overlook a patio. The circle and boxes are retained but I was told are just for decoration and not used.
Although the bar has twelve hand pumps I was told that only the left six were in use and they only had Broughton Old Jock, Abbot and Harviestoun Schiehallion. The Old Jock was a snip at £2.05 but the price was later raised to £2.49. The Schiehallion (£1.89) was also in good nick.
The limited beer choice did start to improve but it did let down what is potentially a good Spoons.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The John Fairweather (JD Wetherspoon)
Very imposing former cinema with an equally impressive 'spoons conversion inside too. Retains numerous functional and decorative features, and it looks like the balcony and boxes could be put back into use for events if required. Bar and main seating area in the stalls, with more space up on the stage. Also has a beer garden at the back. Reasonable selection from two banks of six handpumps, including two each from Kelburn and Harviestoun, The Hector, Fuar and Crofter's Pale Ale from An Teallach Ale, and the Craigmill Mild from Strathaven (£1.89).
