A well supported micro located in a former Midland Bank. You enter the pub into a moderately sized room with high bench seating and tables along both walls. A beer board on the left hand wall displayed a choice of five ales and three ciders. We went for the Mighty Oak Maldon Kings 4.2, which was served straight from the cask. Once our beer was delivered by one of the owners, we were offered a tour of the original manager's office, where many an overdraft might have been turned down. Then the owner showed us the cold room with all the casks on stillage. There was also a small kitchen area nearby to the cold room, used for preparing light snacks such as their local pork pies. The main front door and frame was also fully restored, after it was found out the back in a bundle of timber. We found the owner and his Mrs to be friendly and helpful with our bus routes.
