My recent visit to the inconspicuous Spinning Top coincided with Tuesday night Acoustic Circle where ten or so musicians were jamming in a circle, exactly what it says on the tin! The pub itself is nothing to write home about, but the governor was extremely friendly, even though all talk was in whispers. The bar counter across the right wall supports craft keg alongside two hand pumps that were drawing 4T’s Brewery’s APA and SPA. There’s no real draw for me to revisit here, but I know of some music fans that would find this place more favourable.

Music and comedy venue that looks inviting enough when open, but very forlorn when the metal shutters are down. Anyway, it was packed on my Friday evening visit, with a fine local band (The Viaducts) up on the low stage. Just one of the three handpumps was was in use, but this was pouring a fine pint of Wren's Nest from Howard Town (£3.50), freshly on since another real ale from the same brewery had just run out. Don't know what it's like earlier on, but I certainly enjoyed my stop here.

Converted from an Indian restaurant this bar has a rather interesting decor. Low, comfy seats and tables near the windows and standard dining tables and chairs elsewhere. Loads of great artwork on the walls, much of which is for sale. Lots of speakers in the corners for when they have live music or their comedy nights. Great music being played in the pub anyway. all at a sensible volume. 5 handpumps on the bar with 2 being reserved for real cider & perry. My pint was in excellent condition. I'm not sure I'd want to spend all night here, but I enjoyed it for one.
