A newly-opened independent outlet (having expanded from Exeter) reminiscent of a European-style cafe. Housed over two levels in a contemporary (but comfy rather than minimalist) setting. Coffee, cocktails and beer is the USP. Beer-wise, four ‘craft on draft’; (Wells’ Dogfish Head IPA, Estrella Damm and two of unknown provenance, though apparently brewed in Cornwall?) and a range of bottles. The bottled menu is fairly extensive for the style of outlet; whilst there are ludicrous items (£4.50 for a bottle of Doom Bar?!?) there are some better options such as Freedom, Brew Dog, Harbour, Coopers and Flying Dog. I tried the most batshit thing I could find - Einstock Icelandic White Beer at £4.25 - and was rewarded with a pleasant little drink. Staff were enthusiastic and on-the-ball. Whilst it won’t appeal to the traditionalist I thought it was quite a tidy little place - certainly somewhere to take a partner if they aren’t interested in the traditional style pubs nearby.
