Kongs of King Street, Bristol

Becoming ever more like an amusement arcade than a pub, Kongs now has an array of gaming machines, a table tennis table in the snug at the front, plus several table football tables and pinball machines. It certainly has less pub atmosphere than most of the other King Street pubs, but it does have cask ale. The background noise was the most awful (c)rap music, clearly something the young, scruffy oik behind the bar appreciated more than most humans would. The ales on draft were one from Arbor and Bristol Beer Factory’s fortitude, the latter being in good condition. On tap were Arbor Pocket Rocket, Blue moon, NBB’s Joy of Sesh, Moretti, Red Stripe, Thatcher’s Gold, Neck Oil, Amstel, Wiper and True’s Kaleidoscope, Jubel, Wanna Go To The Sun, Foster’s, Guinness, Fierce and Noble’s Kongcord, LMB’s Mysterious Intergalactic Object and a Deya/Kongs collaboration, King Croc. The craft beers mean it fits well with the other King Street pubs, but I’d leave this one to the under-30s in future.
