Just north of the train station, a micropub fairly typical of shop conversions but nicely furnished with mixed seating, also a covered outside space. My Vibrant Forest Kick Start went down well.

The only plus I have for here was the beer quality and the range of different beers. We found the barmaid to be very unwelcoming and disinterested in newcomers as the place was full of their regulars, very cliquey atmosphere as though the customers owned the place. The pub dog was also an annoying fat low slung thing, which was very snappy unless it was begging for food. We felt peckish so got a pizza from the pizza van out in the front, which was under cooked slop, at least the fat dog enjoyed it, just hope he survived. Another issue was a baby left to roam around in everyone's way.
8 Keg beers, 2 cask and 2 ciders, we went for the New Bristol Cornish Blackberry Crumble & Clotted Cream Sour and 360 degrees Black to Black.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Brooksteed Alehouse
The name is probably right as this is more of an alehouse than a true micro-pub since there is a bit more seating than you might expect beyond the proper counter and at least as much again out on the front patio. Having said that, the good-natured atmosphere was just what you would expect, and the place is deservedly popular. Five real ales - including Langham Best Bitter (£4.00) and a couple from Gun - plus four craft keg beers from local breweries, the imported Brugse Zot blonde and five ciders are available, with details displayed on a TV screen. Very good.
