Chat's Bar is now Brown's Cardiff, the Cardiff branch of this chain bar and restaurant. This is a large example, all on one level with a terrace out the front. Bifold doors fully opened on a sunny summer's afternoon. The bar is on the right-hand side with stools to sit at the bar and which was a popular choice during my visit. There are a variety of seating options, tall round tables with high stools and small round tables with v comfy armchairs dotted around the front, some fabric banquettes with small tables on the left side, a large oblong counter in the middle with power sockets that were popular with laptop users. Beyond that a piano sits in the space between the bar area and the restaurant at the back of the venue. Low ceilings and nice lighting make for decent ambiance.
Beer wise just keg with a middle of the road offering of three lagers (Estrella, Asahi and Peroni), a single cider (Aspall), Cali Pale from Tiny Rebel and Guinness. There must have been a point in the dim and distant past where this chain had cask in a few of their venues.
A convenient spot getting off the train in Cardiff to have a quick quaff and do some work calls! Fairly typical Browns offering that deserves and average score of 5 from me.
