Will Larter left this review about The Pointing Dog Clubhouse
Although the word Clubhouse appears in this pub's name, this is just a hangover from its days as the Polish Ex-servicemen's Club - the licencing terms have been preserved by the new owners, but membership is free and automatic, either online or at the reception desk. In fact, with all doors open in the recent hot weather, people were just turning up and walking straight to the bar, just like a normal pub.
The original building is now surrounded by modern add-ons, featuring lots of glass and steel, and with air conditioning ducts clearly seen above false ceilings in the modern style. The bar is in similar style, with clean metallic lines uninterrupted by keg fonts or hand pulls: these are all on the bar back. Four real ales are available, laudably nearly all from local breweries. I had Kelham Island Pride of Sheffield, which was in good condition although a tad pricey for Sheffield at £3.50 a pint. This is really not my sort of place, but if I was with a group who insisted on coming here, it'd be nice to know that there are some decent real ales available.
