Very friendly staff, who introduced themselves, their other patrons and their other patrons dogs my name.

No bar, gravity fed beer from a cold room.

A micropub in the original style, with no bar counter and the beers (listed on a blackboard) brought from a cold room. Decor and furnishings are casual and ad hoc, with barrels stored under benches, which are well supplied with cushions, and T-shirts on the ceiling serving the dual purpose of decoration and noise reduction. There was a friendly atmosphere, with a small group of regular customers enjoying a lunchtime beer or two.

A good sized micro, consisting of a corner entrance, front room with bench seating. A cold room midway with some seating opposite and a back room. The front area was full on our Saturday afternoon visit, which was a bonus as we took the couple of seats near the cold room, so we didn't have to move from our spot when ordering a beer. Five ales on stillage served from the cask. We went for the Burning Sky Plateau from East Sussex, which was a 3.5% pale ale and had lots of flavour, so a couple of these quite easily slipped down. The purple carpet half way up the wall was a novelty, one way of keeping the walls clean from scuff marks, I suppose.
