The Pit and Nelson was a decent sized pub that was situated in the middle of Ashton in a pedestrianised area.
Once inside the pub had been opened out into a large single room with different drinking areas,food was also available here.
The pub was a Tetley tied house,there was one real ale on the bar which was Tetley bitter,this was a decent enough drink.
The pub is still standing but looks to be in a bit of a state on street view.
