Still much as described below. The large but slightly concealed car park offers a separate entrance into a confortable lounge bar area, which leads through a series of interconnecting restaurant areas through to the hotel end. Pleasant enough.

Large modern Brains outlet. Interior is very IKEA-esque – shades of brown everywhere and somewhat oppressive in that respect. Heated like an old folks home. Nice outside beer garden, though the downpours had rendered it unusable. Three ales (Brains 20, Bitter and Rev James); my 20 was in decent shape and I got my half in a posh goblet. Selection of daily papers plus WiFi. Quite heavy on food. Has a hotel (upmarket B&B, really) which we stayed in. At £40 a head incl breakfast (in a posh conservatory), it was pretty good value. As a drinking venue I could take it or leave it but there are enough creature comforts to make it a fair stop.
