Another Hungry Horse pub just like all the rest. The service was fine and so was the Speckled Hen.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Cambridge
Virtually character-free Hungry Horse pub / restaurant in the Longbridge commercial / entertainment / regeneration complex. Split-level layout with generic modern corporate furniture and decor, with just a few nods to the former Austin car factory heritage. It does do real ale, however, albeit just Greene King IPA and Old Speckled Hen from two of three handpumps.

This is a modern Hungry Horse chain pub/eatery, with patio area. It is a pert of the Longbridge redevelopment and interestingly over-looks a car-park, Sainsburys and Premier Inn. The frontage is effectively, glass. The interior is an open room, with a gallery level. The place is a dog's dinner of colours and textures; red, green, brick, different fabrics, which the few pieces of car ephemera (yes, Longbridge used to make cars!) and the plethora of silent news TVs cannot detract from - nor did the rather irritating amount modern light fittings. The service was fine and the place rammed with families and a good mix of people, all eating. The fire escape is a large fluted column. The music was very quiet. Beer; usual tap stuff with Peroni. £ hanpulls with Abbot, Spekky Hen and as good a GK IPA as you are likely to get. On a personal note, this is the kind of mess of a place that makes me feel proud to be miserable - many will like it, as proved by the numbers at my visit.
