Alan Winfield left this review about Turks Head
The Turks Head was a decent looking back street pub that was a short walk from Long Eatons high street.
Once inside there was a smart lounge to the left which was carpeted and had comfy bench seating and chairs, this was a smallish room, the bar was to the right, this room was oblong shaped, there was a pool table and darts board, the seating was comfy leather bench type in the large bay window and along one wall.
I drank in this pub most weeks from 1979 through to 1986 but only went in the lounge once.
The pub was a big rockers and bikers pub,but hippy types were made just as welcome, the juke box was one of the best, one minute America on playing Horse with no Name, the next Paranoid by Black Sabbath.
The pub was an Home Ales tied house, there were two real ales on the bar,i always had the Home bitter which went down well.
The pub sadly closed down in the early 90s after some serious trouble with biker gangs fighting.
The pub was pulled down, there is now modern housing on its site.
I had some great times in this pub with my mates and later with my wife to be.
I still miss the Turks Head to this day.
