I dont usually leave reviews about places that i have visited, but i have to say the review left by Quinno caught my eye and i just had to write something. I recently moved from Northampton November last year to Mountsorrel for work and being new to the area can be a scary thing to adjust to. The Quarry Master was the first pub in the village i visited after moving in and i felt quit offended and felt the need to defend the pub because of the experiences i have had. Also i cannot help thinking that out of spite someone/Quinno has put up this review for that exact reason! Strange how the Swan is mentioned so much. Anyway the staff have been nothing but hospitable to me and made me feel welcome to the area, enjoying many good sociable nights when my friends have come from out of town. I have built up a good relationship with the chef where nothing is too much for him even if not on the menu. I understand people have their own experiences and opinions but i jus think it was not fair and kind of strange that another local pub was compared. Anyway i will be going into The Quarry Master this Saturday as there is Karaoke night.....lol

What appeared to be a new or renamed pub that was advertised as ‘Under new management’. I popped in for a swifty whilst waiting for the bus after a nice little trip to the Swan. There’s been an obvious internal refit in here, fairly bland all round. Drinkers were squeezed into the left of the bar, all watching Leicester v QPR. The big formal dining area on the right was deserted. Pool room spotted to the rear. Two ales, GK IPA and Rev James (so-so). Comedy bar incompetence, the Asian Abbot & Costello it seemed (“where’s the half glasses?”; “which one is it?”; “how much is it?”). Don’t be tempted, is my advice; get an extra half in the Swan.
