This is a Georgian styled, detached hotel, restaurant and bar, with patio area. It seemed to be the Vicarage at one time. The hotel is in undressed brick, being symmetrical with sash windows on three storeys. The centre is dominated by a projecting brick arch that encompasses a roundall, arched window and the entrance on the three storeys. It has a patio area. We stopped and breakfasted here - it was fine and the brekky stuffed us out. The bar is just off to the right on entry. It is a straight room, in cream and wood panel, part bi-sected between a comfy chaired carpet area and a wood floored sofa area where there were TVs (footy on). There is a nice wood surround fireplace which even the twigs and lights didn't detract from. The tables had candles and some mixed art was on the walls. The service was fine and a few mature locals were in watching the match. There was no music. Beer; one unused handpull with the basic keg taps - the Guinness was OK enough. A generic hotel bar, really.

The Rothwell House Hotel is situated on Rothwells main shopping street.
Once through the main entrance, the public bar is to the right, this room is oblong in shape and runs to the rear, the bar is at the far end of the room.
The area near the front had a laminated floor with leather settees and bucket chairs, the area near the bar was carpeted, there was a real fire on the go.
There were no real ales on the bar,i had a dink of keg Mansfield bitter which was drinkable.
This is a typical hotel bar,but as drinkers we were made welcome,we were the only customers in the bar, late Saturday afternoon.
