When I was in that area April 2012, it was called The Tavern. I see it's changed to The Dubliner now. Better go and check it out soon.

As the name suggests, this is very much an Irish/Celtic F.C. themed pub. There are Celtic scarves, photos and other memorabilia in abundance and even green and white hooped wallpaper! Copies of a free newspaper called “The Irish Voice” were lying around on the tables. That apart, though, it’s nothing at all like the sort of real Irish pub you might actually find in Dublin, being bright, loud and brash. Approaching it from the street, I wasn’t even sure if it was open, as it’s part of a larger building most of which is in a derelict condition, including what appears to be a closed pub next door. Only this small and basic bar remains in business. There’s very little seating and a pool table in the middle of the floor takes up a substantial proportion of what standing room there is. On the plus side, it’s certainly cheap, with Tennent’s lager selling at only £2.50 a pint. Belhaven Best, Guinness, Stella Artois and Magner’s cider are also on draught. Given the profusion of pubs in Rutherglen town centre, this is only really likely to appeal to people attracted by its football/Irish affiliations.
