One of three Good Beer Guide entries for Llandeilo, Yr Hen Vic has a central bar with bare boards, along with a carpeted lounge to the left, a dining room up a few steps to the right and a small games room with a pool table to the rear left.

Rooms have tall ceilings and attractive stone fireplaces. The main bar has walls painted brown and lime green, with lots of pumpclips in frames on one such wall adjacent to the bar. For my visit, the selection was Timothy Taylor Boltmaker, St Peter's Plum Porter & Portobello Star. Keg beers included Beavertown Neck Oil & Hawkstone IPA. The cider was Thatcher's Haze.

Food appears to be popular. The menu was listed above the bar, with a vegan menu also available. Kids are allowed in too. I've found dark beers hard to come by in many parts of Wales. So, the Plum Porter was a good find.

I didn't have time for a drink here on my brief visit to Llandeilo, but the landlord of the Salutation across the road told me that they have some excellent real ales here, including porters.
