Large pub on the A35 just outside Lyndhurst with an opened out interior in a sort of polished farmhouse style. It tends a bit towards the family dining sort of feel but is pleasant enough. Large garden and children's play area at rear and certainly dog friendly. Sampled a Ringwood's Razorback which was a bit gassy but that seems to be a trait of this beer.

Very mixed results, have visited twice this year [2013], both times sort of after 1pm but before 3pm
Came across pub as we were traveling back home on A35 so completely unplanned drop in for lunch
The pub is a large & sprawling open plan, with lots of semi secluded areas, all mainly focused on food, but there is a bar area to prop up if you fancy just a pint or two
Our first visit was very good, lovely food, beer & coffee, at sensible prices, staff efficient, polite and on the ball, and on that I would have said 8/10 for this pub
However on a return visit, again same sort of time, beer & coffee fine, but oh dear, the food let it down, chips were more or less raw, hard & undercooked, and from looking around it seems it was not just us, most were not eaten. When asked "Every thing OK?" we said no, and why, they were mortified and offered a fresh meal, we said no thanks [no time & gone off food really], manageress / landlady opologised, and, without prompting, did not charge for inedible chip meal
So, a bit Curate's egg, one good visit, one not so, hence sitting firmly on fence
No doubt we will go back in the hope that our poor experience was a freak "one off"
