Soup Dragon left this review about The Goldthorn Pub
A 1920/30s detached pub, which is the former Goldthorn Social Club. It is in red brick and moulded stone and has the look of a Methodist chapel. The frontage is a little overgrown with weeds and the entrance is down a side alley. The interior is one vast room, as belies its past. It is in coffee and white, with a hardwaring carpet and a wood dance floor in front of a stage that sports a massive screen showing some dance music channel. There is a pool table and a dart board. There are a few prints on the walls - London buses for one. There is a hatch that seems to offer Indian food, but i saw no menus. Perimeter seating extended along the one side with pine tables and chairs in the middle of the room. The service was friendly enough and the place populated by a few regulars. Beer; no real ale, the Banks's and Thwaites smooth MILDs were off, so i just had a shandy. Nothing for a real ale fan, one for the locals.
