The Hungerford Club is hidden away overlooking what almost looks like a village green. From the outside, it looks more like a traditional pub or a private dwelling. Across the grass from the pub, there are also some tennis courts and a bowling green which belong to the Club.
Inside is much more basic. It is a single room with pale blue walls and a dark blue carpet. There are a couple of TVs and a dartboard. TVs were off and there was no music. The handful of locals and staff in on our Sunday afternoon visit were entertaining themselves with coverage of the Grand Prix on their mobile phones. There is a trophy cabinet in one corner and a book exchange too. A burns night supper was being advertised. Dogs are presumably allowed in, as there was one behind the bar.
At the bar, there are two pairs of handpulls. 2 cask ales on were Ramsbury Gold & Farmer's Best. I chose the latter, which was fine. It looks like a beer festival is still held during the summer.
The Club is Hungerford's only current entry in the Good Beer Guide and members of the general public can enter if they show a copy of the Guide. However, I got the feeling that any visitors would be welcomed.

Popped in for a long session on the beer festival; a dozen or so available, mainly from breweries you've heard of. Not much change inside, it's a comfortable place to sink a good pint of cask.
June 2013
A sports and social club that is open free-of-charge to CAMRA members and Good Beer Guide carriers. Situated in the picturesque tree-lined Croft area and not easy to find from the main High Street (it’s down a badly-signposted narrow alleyway) though a much nicer (if longer) approach is to walk down the canal and through the church. The interior looks like it’s been as it is since the mid-1970’s, with a slightly dated feel. The main room is long and narrow with the bar in a recess. Three ales on the go on my visit, Fullers Chiswick, London Pride and Arkells Cherry Black. My Cherry Black was in super condition and only £3pp. The Chiswick and Pride were also in good shape. There’s a tie-in with Fullers so their beer is regular here. A TV was on with horse racing being shown. I also spotted a dart board, a well-stocked bookshelf and a bulging trophy cabinet. The old boy behind the bar was very pleased to see us and we got a guided tour of the facilities, including two full-sized snooker tables in a side room. He also said that the place was now running twice-yearly beer festivals out on the Croft which sound ideal to me. All-in-all a good little place and I’d happily pop back in again next time I’m in Hungerford. Beware that the opening hours are limited – it closes between 3-7. Rated 7
